Landscape: Parkland, some holes over water
Description: Makes the most of mature woodland setting. Long and technically challenging course
Facilities: Everything you could ask for in a clubhouse, friendly staff, too. Possible to arrange seminars and group meals in separate rooms.
Our view:A great course and a superb clubhouse, offering every comfort to the travelling golfer. Built to high Japanese standards.

Landscape:Modern design, flat, forest backdrop
Description: Current planting and additional water hazards will add to the attraction of this well-maintained course, which is overlooked by the hotel
Facilities: On-site hotel, super clubhouse facilities and bar/restaurant.
Our view: An improving course. Good playing conditions. The new water hazards will enliven the setting.

Isle d'Adam Golf CourseL'Isle D'Adam 6188m Par 72.
Landscape:Parkland/forest.
Description: Undulating Quite tight and up and down. The tree-lined fairways and quality greens will add to any golfer's enjoyment of this excellent design
Buggies: Electric and pull trolleys for hire
Facilites: Welcoming clubhouse, tastefully converted from 18c stone farm buildings, offers restaurant and bar. Electric trolleys to rent, but no buggies are allowed here.
Our view: Get here whilst it's less well known and not busy during the week. NB: Closed on Tuesdays.

Paris International Golf courseParis International Golf Club 6119m Par 72.
Landscape:
Parkland. Incredible planting of specimen trees.
Description: Nicklaus really made the most of the landscape, and tweaked it to offer a wide fairways and contoured greens
Facilities: Superb clubhouse facilities, including pool and jacuzzi. Members day available from £70. Limited play on Sundays. There are 6 well appointed guest bedrooms within the luxurious clubhouse, which it is possible to rent.
Our view: On a members' day, stay and play as long as you like.buggies included, then maybe a swim & relax. Make the most of this very special privilege. You'll enjoy the golf, too!

Mont Griffon Golf courseGolf De Mont Griffon, Les Lacs 5897m Par 72. La Foret 2790m Par 34.
Landscape:
Parkland, a view from everwhere on the course
Description: Set in lovely countryside.Rather challenging 18 holes, and 2 9-holes, of which the shorter forms part of the outstanding training and practice facilities on this complex La Foret (9) Par 34, 2790 m.
Facilities: Hotel on site, plus separate clubhouse, fully equipped. Also conference centre and function suites.Lessons can be arranged.
Our view: Worth a visit. Access to hotel restricted to weekends, but midweek, the course has space for greenfees.

Genappe. 6157m, Par 72

Landscape: Undulating, rolling plains
Description: Opened in 1989, making the most of the existing landscape for the views. Many elevated greens, most are well protected by bunkers.
Buggies: A few buggies & electric trolleys for hire
Facilities:
Driving range, clubhouse serving good food,snacks and full meals, in ancient farmhouse setting, terrace in summer. Well stocked, but expensive 'Pro-shop'. Adjacent swimming pool complex.
Our view: Any of these courses, in combination with the others makes for an ideal short-break destination. We found good and friendly service everywhere, all the facilities the visiting golfer could wish for

Golf d'Hulencort
Genappe. 6215m, Par 72

Landscape: Gently rolling countryside. Much newly planted.
Description: Large, undulating greens and generous fairways. Excellent maintenance. Rossi [designed Belle Dune, Picardy] who knows how to use the environment. Has added lakes and elevated tees to increase interest.
Buggies: Buggies and pull trolleys for hire
Facilities:
Driving range and full practice facility.Clubhouse serving snacks and full meals, terrace in summer, all set in historic manor and farm buildings. Air of a 'gentleman's club'. Separate dining room, if required for groups. Boutique.

Sept Fontaines GC
Le Chateau 6066m, Par 72

Landscape: Parkland. Many magnificent mature trees
Description: Could be said to be the 'championship' course of the two. Hosts many competitions. Rossi design, opened in 1987 has a lovely finishing hole.

Facilities:
Beautiful château clubhouse, with tasteful modern touches. Proshop. Excellent practice facilities plus short 9 holes.

La Foret. 4870m, Par 69

Landscape: Parkland. Many magnificent mature trees
Description: Shorter course. Lovely setting. Complements the longer 18, same architect, but opened 3 years later. Enjoy lovely landscapes, on your way round.

Facilities:
Beautiful château clubhouse, with tasteful modern touches. Proshop. Excellent practice facilities plus short 9 holes.

English. 6024m, Par 71

Landscape: Rolling parkland, set within a mature forest
Description: Designed by M. Hawtree in 1988. Many 'signature' features of the family designs, wide fairways, but watch out for all the trees!

American. 6031m, Par 72

Landscape: Parkland, but numerous lakes
Description: Undulating and a real challenge, if it's windy. Makes the most of the landscape. Upgraded by Alliss & Clark in 1991.

Impressive white-washed walls form courtyard around which all the club's buildings stand. Every facility, including clubhouse restaurant, terrace and meeting rooms. Full practice faclities, too.

Golf du Bercuit
5931m, Par 72

Landscape: Tree-lined, some undulations, smart residential area.
Description: Several steeply undulating holes, but this is a course of real quality, in excellent condition. R.Trent-Jones designed in 1965. The best golfers will enjoy their 18 holes here

Facilities:
Fully equipped clubhouse, restaurant, terrace and outdoor swimming pool
Our view: We love the feel of the area and are impressed by the high level of maintenance. Worth paying the extra to play here.

Golf du Mont Garni.
6352m, Par 74

Landscape: Parkland, flat
Description: This course lies mainly within trees, easy walking, but long. 4 holes are more open, set in front of the clubhouse.
Buggies: Limited buggies
Facilities:
Charming, Anglo-Norman half-timbered clubhouse, a wedding gift to the current owner!
Out view: Well-maintained. Welcoming ambience

Golf Club de Pierpoint.
6207m, Par 72

Landscape: Open landscape, close to the Waterloo monument
Description: 18 holes and a compact 5-hole adjacent to practice facilities. The course is quite open to the elements, and the difficulty will depend on the weather. The undulating greens are well guarded, so precise play is required to score well.
Buggies: Limited buggies, pull trolleys for hire
Facilities:
18 rooms can be rented within the converted farmhouse buildings surrounding the clubhouse. Groups catered for, as residents
Our view: Very friendly set-up, used to international clientele.

 

Royal Waterloo G C,
La Manche 6235m, Par 73

Landscape: Wooded and parkland
Description: These 18 holes, plus 9, LE BOI HEROS, were designed in 1959 by Hawtree. The main course has wide, undulating fairways, all very well maintained.The 9 are short, set in a rolling woodland setting.
Buggies: Buggies and pull trolleys for hire
Facilities:
Full clubhouse facilities, magnificent terrace and views over the courses.
Our view: We loved the woodland holes. Note: during 2005, 9 holes will be under repair at any one time, for green replacement works

Le Lion 6215m, Par 72

Landscape: Parkland
Description: Paul Rolin, the Belgian architect responsible for Les Dunes at Hardelot, completed his design in 1985, making very good use of the sweeping landscape. Very little water.

Facilities:
Full clubhouse facilities, magnificent terrace and views over the courses.
Our view: Not available at weekends, when members play. See comments under La Marache.

La Golf du Chateau de la Bawette.
6076m, Par 72
andscape:
In grounds of a privately-owned chateau.
Description: Wide, rolling countryside, some undulation. Set within wooded plains and valleys, some water to contend with!

Facilities:
Modern clubhouse. Chateau remains private. 9 hole beginners' course
Our view: A members' club. Closed on Mondays. Bound to challenge. Not recommended for 'seniors'.

Golf la Bruyere.
6174m, Par 72

Landscape: Converted from farmland in 1987
Description: Typical of this region, the open aspect of these broad fairways creates their interest. The course is surrounded by woodland and very few hills.

Facilities:
The family chateau in part houses the friendly clubhouse
Our view: Suits all level of golfer. Also a 9 hole practice course.

Golf Club del Louvain-la-Neuve.
6226m, Par 72

Landscape: Flat and reasonably exposed
Description: An open landscape, pleasant course, suitable for all levels of golfer, but long. Many bunkers and water hazards, especially on the inward 9 holes
Buggies: Buggies and pull trolleys for hire
Facilities:
Choice of two restaurants, one in the clubhouse and the other an Italian, by the practice range.Clubhouse backing onto lovely woods.
Our view: Suits all level of golfer. Also a training centre with 4 practice holes.

Golf Club de Rigenee.
6450m, Par 73

Landscape: Flat and quite exposed
Description: This long course is punctuated by clumps of trees and plenty of water.The membership has given rise to future professionals, proving that you should not be fooled by the course's apparent simplicity.
Buggies: Free trollies, buggies to hire
Facilities:
Friendly, members' style clubhouse, catering well for visitors.
Our view: A welcoming, family-owned club. 9 hole training course
